My kitchen has a rooster/country kitchen 'theme'. Hubby isn't wild about it, but I've been collecting rooster items since before I met him so it's just something he has to live with! Just like I have to live with his golf equipment taking over the rest of the house. And the beer in my closet.
Most of these pictures were taken right after we moved into the house. The house has an open floor plan, and the kitchen flows into the living room, which connects to the dining room.
There are still a lot of things I want to do with the space - paint, granite countertops, curtains. We have all the basics that we need though, so the decor and upgrades will have to wait. I still don't know when we'll get to do these things, but I know all the waiting and dreaming and wanting will make it so much more exciting and special when that time finally comes!
Close-up of fall decorations and yummy-smelling pumpkin pie candle. I try to include small seasonal decor items to change things up throughout the year, and to help us feel more festive.
Another view of the kitchen. The appliances are different colors - we're working toward black, but the house came with the standard builder white. Fortunately, everything was brand new. Unfortunately, they won't need to be replaced for quite a while. Oh well.
What I look at when I'm cooking dinner. The little rooster sign says "Have a Good Day."
My mom got me this sign a few years ago. I know these kind of things were trendy a while back (are they still?), but it's a great reminder of the important things in life while I'm washing the dishes.
This guy sits on top of my fridge and keeps watch over the entire kitchen. He was the one that finally made my hubby finally cry "Enough! No more roosters!"
Do you think I listened?
Well...

Before Gadget Guy I had a lavender themed kitchen. That was not going to fly with him, so I made it a coffee theme, which flows well with the rest of the down stairs.
ReplyDeletewell when you have a theme you stick to it!!
ReplyDeletei like it!
Hi, Lynn. I figured it was about time that I pass by and check out your blog and follow it since we have become fast Twitter friends. Lol I love what you have done with your kitchen, you have a great eye for decorating. We just remodeled the bathroom this year and are planning to do the kitchen next. Right now, I hate my kitchen because a lot of cabinets had to be ripped down to fix a leak. I plan to gut it and start from scratch just like we did to the bathroom. As everything is so expensive when you own a home, it's one project at a time. Maybe you can give me some decorating ideas when the time comes...
