Goodness, what a day I've had today. I don't usually like to talk about work on this blog, but I need to get this out of my head so I can try to relax tonight.
I started out dreading the start of the work week - that's not unusual these days, unfortunately. My new boss and I don't always get along, and we butted heads on Friday over a miscommunication. I was still upset when I left, and the incident replayed in my mind throughout the weekend. I went in to speak to him about it this morning when we got into the office, and though we both apologized and talked out a solution to make sure we don't have a repeat, I'm still a little rattled and wary.
This afternoon, the CFO (our Head Honcho boss) called me in to his office. Basically, they expect the company to double in sales and volume in the next several months and want to make sure "I can handle it." I'm handling things just fine now, but I'm not sure it will stay that way, especially since they don't want to hire anyone else in the department. So...they want me to do twice the amount of work, in the same amount of time, and probably without a raise. Ummm....yeah. We'll see how that goes, mmmkay?
All this has my mind so wound up right now. I'm trying to relax and unwind so I can enjoy the evening with my husband. How's that going, you ask? Not great.
I had a great weekend though! It's funny how the really good weekends always feel like they're cut short. My mom came to visit, and we went out to lunch, did some shopping, and had some good quality mother-daughter time. I always love it when she comes to visit, but unfortunately those visits don't happen often enough.
I had some nice moments with Will over the weekend, though. I'll be writing about those tomorrow when I can actually form a coherent sentence.
I hope y'all had a better Monday than I did!
& here's some cute pictures to make up for the verbal vomit you just read:
it is so frustrating when people expect you to do 200% with no help and no additional motivation, besides keeping your job.
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you mean when your employers want you to do the work of 2 or 3 for the price of 1.
ReplyDeleteYour little one is the cutest!!!

How cute is your son - I could just gobble him up!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, wait, all that cuteness washed out the words.... I feel your pain. At my last job, I (quite frankly) couldn't stand the guy I was working for. He was the type to drop the ball, and blame it on me - and expected me to just roll with that, as we "needed to present a united front".
Mmm-no. Hang in there, mama.
